Park Hill School District Thrives with Matrix as Data Warehousing and Analysis System

3-21-2012

PARK HILL, Mo. -- In 2011, Park Hill School District joined forces with AllofE Solutions to create a flexible, usable, and intelligent online system to service the copious amount of K-12 student data. This combined effort resulted in a data analytics and reporting tool for school districts based on AllofE’s data analytics platform - Matrix.

Matrix allows for districts to view and analyze various amounts of student data including national and state test scores, attendance, and behavior incidents for assessments such as the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP), ACT, Acuity and TerraNova to name a few. Park Hill has embraced Matrix over the past year and the results have been more than rewarding.

Since August 2011 Park Hill teachers and administrators have:

  • Reported over 15,000 behavior incidents
  • Entered over 25,000 6+1 Traits test results for students
  • Viewed over 400,000 student scores from a variety of tests including MAP, Acuity, and ACT taken from 2008 through 2012

Matrix behavior reports allow for teachers and administrators to see incident breakdowns organized by variety of different variables including type, location, and time. Reports that highlight the most frequent areas and times for behavior incidents allow for administrators to make informed decisions about how to intervene and reduce the number of problems at school. And since reporting is immediately available once incidents are entered, administrators can check how successful new policies have been by comparing current results to the previous months or years.

Park Hill views detailed analysis in Matrix for nine distinct test types ranging from state-level assessments like the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) to national-level achievement tests like the ACT. They currently view data for over 15,000 students in over 9,000 classes.

Test scores in Matrix are often imported into the system automatically, but for those tests that require teacher input Matrix provides tools to insert scores and instantly run analysis on the data. Park Hill uses this method to record and report on their 6+1 Traits test data. This tool allows teachers to insert scores for their students as well as compare their class against district averages. School administrators have the ability to view the entered data at all levels and compare scores at a school, teacher, or student level.
